Assistant Coach

Hometown: New Philadelphia, OH
Record at UWG:
When former assistant coach David Draper left West Georgia in the spring of 2005, head coach Ed Murphy didn’t have to look far for his replacement. He just looked down the bench and there was Andy Young, a smart former player who has been the graduate assistant for West Georgia basketball for the past two seasons.
Young was a member of the Braves’ squad that went to the Elite Eight in 2002 and was named All-Gulf South Conference in both of his years in a West Georgia uniform.
Known for his strong defense and dead-eye shot, Young has been a large part of the Braves’ success in recent years, both on and off the court.
He is married to the former Jill Zehr, the women’s volleyball coach at local Central-Carroll High School.
