Braves make it two in a row
Carrollton, Ga. September 17, 2005 – The West Georgia Braves winning streak is now at two games after Saturday nights 34-23 win over the Ouachita Baptist Tigers.
The Braves offense took full advantage of the Ouachita defense, racking up 400 yards of offense in the first three quarters of the night while building a 34-16 lead.
Abe Felix and Stan Rowe both eclipsed the 100-yard mark rushing the ball on the night. It was Felixs third straight game with 100-plus yards rushing. Rowe, a freshman from Carrollton, achieved his first 100-yard game.
The entire offense got in on the act in the game, as freshman Beau Whitmire went over 100-yards receiving on the evening.
Ouachita made the contest interesting late, scoring a touchdown with just over two minutes left in the game. On the ensuing kickoff, the Tigers recovered an onsides kick, giving their offense new life. But three plays into the drive, West Georgias defense came up big, forcing a fumble that Jonah Katende jumped on, sealing the Braves victory.
The Braves return home next Saturday night against Arkansas-Monticello. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
