Crumpton plays in Nicaragua
Carrollton, Ga. – July 18, 2005 – With just a few weeks left before reporting day, two West Georgia players have already had a tremendous summer. Junior middle hitter Siha Collins started the summer being named to the 2005 Arthur Ashe Sports Scholar Volleyball team. Meanwhile, sophomore libero Megan Crumpton has been honing her skills in Nicaragua, playing with Bring It USA.
For Collins, the award is a tremendous honor, as it goes out to the best that the nation has to offer in African-American student-athletes. In addition to being second on the team last season in blocks with 111, Collins is an outstanding student. A sport management major, Collins holds a 3.49 GPA at West Georgia.
Also on the second team are players from the University of Texas at Austin, Stanford University, UC-Santa Barbara, Long Island University and College of the Holy Cross, among others.
Crumpton, who was one of the first players off the bench in 2004, has just returned from Nicaragua where she played with Bring It USA from July 9-17. Bring It USA is the same group who sent the Braves to Europe last spring.
Her team played against the Managua Senior National Team, the Nicaraguan National Team and the Junior Nicaraguan National team, among others.
The 2005 West Georgia team reports for duty on August 10.
