Carrollton, Ga. – December 17, 2005 – Delta State came visiting for the holidays Saturday night and proved to be a tough visitor for the West Georgia, as the Lady Statesmen beat the Braves 60-41 in the final game before the holiday break.
The Braves fought hard, but Delta was just a bit taller at nearly every position, giving them a advantage over UWG. The Lady Statesmen defense frustrated Braves’ star Tai Ellis all night, as the All-America candidate failed to reach double figure scoring for just the second time this season.
Yvonne Killings led the way for West Georgia on the night, scoring a career-high 15 points. The only other Brave in double figures was Natasha Liggins with 13.
West Georgia falls to 6-5 before the break. Their next action comes on December 28 at the annual Heritage Bank Holiday Tournament at Clayton State in Morrow, GA.
