Carrollton, Ga. – December 22, 2005 – A stellar week by one Brave has earned recognition from Gulf South Conference officials. Yvonne Killings was named GSC East Division Player of the Week in the conference’s official release Wednesday.
The honor is the first of Killings’ career as a Brave. It is the second straight week a West Georgia player has earned the award and third this season.
The senior from Bonifay, FL, averaged 13 points and 5.5 rebounds per game through the Braves’ two games this past week. Her highest scoring output was 15 in a loss to undefeated Delta State.
But it was against Miles where Killings made her biggest impact. Against the Golden Bears, she had 11 points, three assists and six rebounds in UWG’s 69-53 region win. She was huge for the Braves in that game where second-leading scorer and point guard Natasha Liggins was out with a sprained ankle.
The Braves’ next action comes on December 28th when they travel to Morrow for the annual Heritage Bank Holiday Classic at Clayton State.
