Braves finish 10th at GSC meet

Carrollton, Ga. – October 24, 2005 – The West Georgia Braves competed at the Gulf South Conference cross-country meet Saturday, with the women finishing ninth in the conference and the men finishing 10th.

Freshman Haley Conger was the highest finisher for the women, crossing the line with a time of 18:39, good for eighth place in the meet. Her time was 1:29 behind winner Aoife Cooke’s 17:10. The top-10 finishers in the race earned first team All-GSC honors.

Other women’s finishers for the Braves were Katie Perkins (19:30 – 24th), Jessie Reynierson (20:05 – 38th), Angelica Campos (21:39 -73rd), Julie Terrill (22:06 – 84th), Jessica Gaddis (25:25 103rd) and Shelley Kerr (26:20-105).

On the men’s side, Shawn Matthews was the top Brave in the meet, finishing at 27:14 in 27th place. This was the first time that no male West Georgia runner did not finish as first or second-team All-GSC athlete.

Other UWG finishers were Mike Brannon (27:50 – 41), Danny Wiley (28:19 – 48), Bobby Ralston (28:46 – 52), Robert Rotich (29:21 – 55) and Luke Swenson (31:01 – 65).
