Braves stay put in Region rankings

Carrollton, Ga. – October 5, 2005 – The weekly National Soccer Coaches’ Athletic Association rankings came out Tuesday, and the West Georgia’s 1-0-1 weekend kept the Braves in fifth place, tied with Central Arkansas.

The Braves and Lady Bears tied on Sunday, which gave UCA enough points to move up one place into a tie with West Georgia. The two teams sit just behind Barry in fourth place. West Florida’s two wins solidified their place as the top team in the region, followed by Tampa and Lincoln Memorial at second and third.

The Regional rankings are used to determine the participants in the NCAA South Region bracket of the National Tournament.

West Georgia’s Sara Sohlberg maintained her place as the top goal-scorer in the nation with a three-goal effort this weekend. She is averaging 1.78 goals per game in leading the NCAA. Her points total went down slightly after Sunday’s three-point performance against Central Arkansas. She dropped one spot in the points per game rankings to third.

The Braves travel to Alabama-Huntsville on Friday afternoon and then to Lincoln Memorial on Sunday. Huntsville is unranked in the Region, but LMU is ranked third.
