UWG duo continues post-season awards harvest
Carrollton, GA � December 22, 2005 - One day after earning their first All-America notices of the year, a pair of West Georgia football stalwarts have again found their names listed among the nation�s elite.
Two Braves named All-American
Carrollton, GA � December 20, 2005 - Post-season honors continue to arrive for two members of the 2005 West Georgia Braves football team as a pair of Braves earned All-American honors released Tuesday.
West Georgia signs top football prospect
Carrollton, GA � December 14, 2005 - West Georgia�s coaching staff entered this year�s football recruiting season full of optimism. The hope was that last season�s turnaround on the field would carryover to the search for top prospects. Based on early results, their efforts may bring excellent results.
Two Braves headed to Whataburger Cactus Bowl
Carrollton, Ga. - December 8, 2005 - Two West Georgia standouts, Jeff Carpenter and Kelvin Morris, were named to the East Team at the 2006 Whataburger Cactus Bowl in Kingsville, Texas. The game will be January 6, 2006.

Five Braves named All-South Region
Carrollton, GA � December 1, 2005 - West Georgia�s resurgence during the recent football season has been both recognized and rewarded. Five members of the 2005 Braves were Wednesday named to the 2005 Daktronics All-Southeast Region Team.

2005 Season: A Look Back
Carrollton, Ga. - November 9, 2005 - The 2005 football season began with high expectations for the West Georgia Braves. After three seasons at the bottom of the league standings, UWG began the year with the goal of becoming a contender for the Gulf South Conference crown.

Carrollton, GA � November 8, 2005 - A record-setting performance for a West Georgia Braves defender has earned accolades from the Gulf South Conference. Junior end Odell Willis has been named the Gulf South Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his record-setting performance in last Saturday�s win at Valdosta State.
Defense shines in upset over #2 Valdosta
Carrollton, Ga. - November 5, 2005 - The losing steak is over. For the first time since the 1999 season, the West Georgia Braves have beaten the Valdosta State Blazers. The Braves' defense stepped up to the challenge and powered UWG to a 29-15.
UWG falls in heartbreaker to UNA
Carrollton, Ga. - October 29, 2005 - The West Georgia Braves lost a chance for a share of the Gulf South Conference tournament title Saturday night in a heartbreaking 20-19 senior night loss to North Alabama at Grisham Stadium.
West Georgia to retain Ledford in 2006
Carrollton, GA � October 26, 2005 - For Mike Ledford, the road to rebuild a winning program at West Georgia has been a long and often rocky one. The veteran coach�s efforts, however, have paid off in 2005 as UWG has clinched its first winning season since 2001.
Braves keep pace in GSC with win in Arkadelphia
Carrollton, Ga. - October 22, 2005 - The stat sheet for Saturday's game with Henderson State didn't read like a normal UWG win, as the Braves rushed for less than 200 yards for just the fourth time this season. But those stats didn't matter as West Georgia walked out of Carpenter-Haygood Stadium with a 38-12 win.
UWG linebacker wins GSC honor
Carrollton, GA � October 18, 2005 - For the first time this season a member of the West Georgia Braves has captured a league honors. UWG senior linebacker Kelvin Morris was Monday named Gulf South Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
West Georgia dispatches SAU, 31-14
Carrollton, Ga. - October 15, 2005 - Something had to give when West Georgia and Southern Arkansas locked horns. The Braves, facing an SAU defense ranked second in the Gulf South Conference in total defense, racked up over 400 yards of offense en route to a 31-14 victory over the Muleriders Saturday night at Grisham Stadium.

Braves celebrate Homecoming with thrashing
Carrollton, Ga. - October 7, 2005 - A team that can control the line of scrimmage can control a football game. The West Georgia Braves did that on both sides of the ball during Saturday's Homecoming game as the Braves blasted West Alabama 41-0.

Braves come up just short in Russellville
Russellville, AR - October 1, 2005 - The mistakes were gone for Saturday afternoon's game against Arkansas Tech, but it wasn't enough to beat the homestanding Wonderboys, as #10 ATU beat the Braves 14-9.
West Georgia rolls at home, 58-21
Carrollton, Ga. - September 24, 2005 - Saturday night at Grisham Stadium, the West Georgia Braves scored in nearly every way possible en route to a 58-21 blasting of Arkansas-Monticello. The 58 points were the most for a UWG squad since the 1998 season.
Braves make it two in a row
Carrollton, Ga. � September 17, 2005 - The West Georgia Braves� winning streak is now at two games after Saturday night�s 34-23 win over the Ouachita Baptist Tigers.
First home outing results in nail-biting win
Carrollton, Ga. - September 10, 2005 - It took every ounce of sweat, determination and fire West Georgia had, but the Braves held off a furious fourth-quarter rally by the Harding Bisons for a 23-21 victory in the home and Gulf South Conference opener Saturday night.
Braves fall just short at Nick Hyder Classic
Rome, Ga. - September 1, 2005 - In front of a regional television audience Thursday night at the Nick Hyder Classic in Rome, the West Georgia Braves nearly pulled off the upset of the year. For 45 minutes of the contest, West Georgia played neck-and-neck with the #7 Carson Newman Eagles. But in the end, a two-yard touchdown run from Eagle quarterback Joey King proved to be the game winner as the Braves fell 14-10.
Miscues spoil season opener at Presbyteran
Carrollton, Ga. - August 24, 2005 - Turnovers can kill any team in the early season. The West Georgia Braves found that out Saturday at Bailey Stadium in Clinton, SC, as the Presbyterian Blue Hose took advantage of seven UWG turnovers en route to a 48-13 win in the 2005 season opener.
UWG-Carson-Newman set for Regional TV
Carrollton, GA � July 12, 2005 - At the Division I level, collegiate programs regularly move the dates and starting times of football games to accommodate the demands of television. For Division II programs like West Georgia, however, the occurrence is much more rare.

Carrollton, GA - February 2, 2005 - On signing day, everyone's recruiting class looks like a winner. Often, teams don't learn the true value of a signing class for two-to-three seasons. The West Georgia Braves, however, are looking for immediate results from their incoming group of 2005 recruits.
West Georgia names new Defensive Coordinator
Carrollton, GA - December 21, 2005 - A new face will call the defensive shots for the West Georgia Braves football program in 2005. Head coach Mike Ledford Tuesday announced the appointment of veteran Charles Anthony as the program's new defensive coordinator. Anthony, who will also serves as linebackers coach, comes to the Braves after serving last season in the same capacity at GSC rival North Alabama.
Kramer named head strength and conditioning coach
Carrollton, GA � August 3, 2005 - West Georgia is taking a step to the head of the class in Division II athletics, as athletic director Ed Murphy has announced that Drew Kramer will take over full-time in the 2005-06 athletic year as the Director of Strength and Conditioning.
