Carrollton, Ga. – November 11, 2005 – The 2005 campaign came to a close Friday evening in Searcy, Ark., as the West Georgia Braves fell 3-0 (17-30, 14-30, 17-30) to host Harding at the Gulf South Conference tournament.
The Bison came out very tough early, jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the game one. Kathi Schoeneck pulled the Braves to within a point with a kill to make the score 6-5, but that was as close as UWG would come in the opening stanza.
The second game was almost identical, with Harding leaping out to a big lead, then continuing to build on the lead throughout.
In game three, the Braves came out playing inspired volleyball, opening up a 3-0 lead off the bat. Harding took their first advantage at 5-4 and never looked back in finishing West Georgia’s season.
The Braves finish with a 21-18 record in their first season under head coach Regan Adams.
Stephanie Singleton finishes her amazing four-year career at West Georgia with 1,869 kills (1,369 previous record), 1,431 digs (1,053 prev.), 236 service aces (213 prev.), and 5,270 total attacks (4,466 prev.). Her 596 kills this season are a UWG single-season record, along with 1,732 attacks.
