Montevallo, AL – September 30, 2005 – Tournament settings haven’t been as kind to the West Georgia Braves since the first weekend of the season. But Friday at the Montevallo Coca-Cola Classic, the Braves cured that jinx, going 2-0 on the evening.
The first matchup was against Albany State, which the Braves dispatched rather quickly 3-0. The first game was as dominant as UWG has been all season long as the Braves won 30-11.
In the second match of the day, the Braves faced GSC West foe Ouachita Baptist, winning 3-2 in a nailbiter. West Georgia, leading 2-1 in game four, lost the game 31-29 to send the match to a fifth game, where the Braves won 15-7.
The Braves have two matches on Saturday, at 2 p.m. against Martin Methodist and at 6 p.m. versus Fort Valley State.
