Carrollton, Ga. – October 18, 2005 – The West Georgia Braves scored early and often Tuesday afternoon, turning up the intensity on both sides of the field in an 11-0 victory over visiting North Greenville College.
Things didn’t start quick for the Braves, as the Lady Crusaders were quick to the ball early and didn’t give the UWG scorers an open look at the goal.
But that changed in the 17th minute as Sara Sohlberg broke through the NGC defense for her 17th goal of the season and the rout was on. Sohlberg scored three goals in the next 10-minute minutes to put the Braves up by a commanding 3-0 score.
Four minutes later, Shizuka Tsuchiya flipped up a corner kick pass from Samantha Jones that found the back of the net for a 4-0 lead.
On the afternoon, five different Braves scored, led by Sohlberg with five. That brings her season total to 21. Tsuchiya had a pair of goals, as did Brittany Carr. Margret Jonsdottir and Maz Sweeney each added a goal to the effort. Sweeney also had three assists in the game.
The Braves move to 11-4-1 on the year while North Greenville falls to 4-9. West Georgia hosts Montevallo this Friday at 4 p.m.
