Carrollton, GA November 3, 2005 – Senior night ended on a disappointing note for the West Georgia Braves volleyball team here Thursday. UWG fell to GSC East rival Alabama-Huntsville, 3-1, in the final home match of the 2005 season.
UAH controlled play in the first game, posting a big, 30-19 win. The Lady Chargers then took control of the match with a come-from-behind, 30-28 win in game two. The Braves returned the favor with a 30-27 decision in the third game. However, the visitors again controlled play late in a 30-27 win in game four to secure the match.
Sophomore Carolin Schoeneck paced the West Georgia attack with 25 kills and a .298 hitting percentage. Senior Stephanie Singleton closed out her home career with a 20-kill effort. Sophomore Megan Crumpton paced UWGs defensive effort with 12 digs.
Alabama-Huntsville was paced by Bethany Holder, who had 12 kills and a huge .647 hitting night. Kim Beasley followed her with 11 kills (.474) while Shannon Polkowski had 15 kills and hit .407.
The loss dropped West Georgia to 21-18 on the season, 8-7 in the GSC East. It locked the Braves into the fourth seed for next weeks GSC Tournament in Searcy, Ark., UAH is 21-10, 9-4, and will be seeded third in next weeks tourney.
